Code of Conduct

A community built on respect

The Learning Garden is more than a childcare centre — it's a community. And like any community worth being part of, it works best when everyone in it treats each other with care, honesty and respect.

This Code of Conduct applies to all families, carers, authorised contacts and visitors. It exists not to restrict but to protect — the children in our care, the educators who care for them and the wider community we've built together.

How we ask you to show up

Drop-off and pick-up are busy, important moments in the day. Educators are present with children and need to remain focused. We ask all families and visitors to communicate with our team in a way that reflects the values of this community.

  • Respectful language: All communication with educators and staff should be calm, considerate and respectful — at the centre, at events and online.

  • Focused interactions: Keep drop-off and pick-up conversations meaningful and brief so educators can remain present with the children in their care.

  • Raising concerns directly: If you have a concern — about your child, another child, a staff member or our practices — please raise it with us directly. We take all concerns seriously and will always respond with transparency.

  • Respect for other families: Parents are not permitted to discipline the children of other families. If you have a concern about another child's behaviour, speak with our team — not the child or their family directly.

Where we draw the line

We have a responsibility to maintain a safe environment for children and staff. The following conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances — at the centre, at any event or online:

  • Threatening, intimidating or physically aggressive behaviour towards any child, educator or family member

  • Verbal abuse, name-calling or rude and demeaning behaviour directed at any person

  • Spreading misinformation or complaints about the centre through social media, WhatsApp groups or other channels rather than raising concerns through the appropriate process

  • Any conduct prohibited by law

Families who breach this Code will be contacted by our leadership team. Depending on the nature and severity of the breach, this may result in suspension or cancellation of enrolment.

Where conduct is threatening or violent, police will be contacted immediately.

We want to hear from you — through the right channels

If something isn't right, please tell us. We genuinely welcome feedback and take all concerns seriously. The right way to raise a concern is to speak directly with our Centre Director or responsible person at the time — or to contact us via phone or email if you'd prefer.

What we ask is that concerns come to us first, rather than being aired on social media or within parent groups. We can't resolve what we don't know about — and public criticism rarely leads to the outcome families are hoping for.

This Code of Conduct is aligned with the Education and Care Services National Law and National Regulations (Regulation 168) and the National Quality Standard (Element 7.1.2). It applies to all parents, carers, guardians, authorised contacts and visitors of children enrolled at The Learning Garden.
